Working with new clients is akin to being a detective. A tech detective, if you will. While onsite onboarding a new business, their staff complained about network speeds and the WiFi dropping intermittently. Hmmm. With a team that was struggling with constant disruptions was costing the company time, money and their reputation.
The Challenge
Soon after kicking off our troubleshooting investigation, we noticed an access point was situated right next to the microwave in the kitchen. A quick test confirmed our hunch: WiFi dropped whenever an employee used the microwave. With that mystery solved, we collected asset information and determined all network devices were old and out of warranty.
The Technikel Solution
In order to secure better coverage and prevent the microwave from shutting down business workflows, we moved the access points to more central locations in the office. Even though this new client is a medium-sized business, we then upgraded their access points, switches and firewall to enterprise grade devices. Enterprise grade devices were the best choice because they needed technology that could consistently support daily business activity and keep pace with their evolving needs.
Since Technikel stepped in, this client has yet to have any WiFi or network speed issues. Now, microwaving fish is the only thing disrupting this office.
